Services / Radial Shockwave Therapy

Radial shockwave therapy involves a probe that produces high energy sound waves that pass through the skin and spreads outwards into the underlying tissues to help relieve pain.

  • INDICATIONS
    • Insertional tendinopathies eg: plantar fasciitis, Achilles/tibialis posterior/tibialis anterior
    • Muscle trigger points
    • Calcifications
  • HOW DOES IT HELP ME?
    • Pain reduction – radial shock waves change the way the nerves signal pain
    • Increased tissue healing – radial shock waves cause the release of chemicals in the cells which reduce inflammation and pain
    • Improved blood flow – repeated shock waves help create new blood flow which helps promote tissue healing and regeneration
    • Reduced muscle tone – shock waves will help restore normalized muscle tone by acting on trigger points, which are the tender spots in the muscles which often generate pain and dysfunction
  • CONTRAINDICATIONS
    • Coagulation disorders
    • Tumour disease/cancer patients
    • Polyneuropathy
    • Children
    • Over metal implants
    • Use of anticoagulants
    • Pregnancy
    • Acute inflammations/infections
    • Cortisone injection 6 weeks (or less) ago
  • SIDE EFFECTS
    • Swelling
    • Bruising
    • Redness
